My Issue

Education. My issue is about how in many developing countries children aren't able to go to school because they have to support their families, this is currently happening in Ecuador. Both girls and boys can go to school but they both have to look after younger siblings and help out on the farm. Subsistence agriculture still dominates the economy of the indigenous communities. Illiteracy and lack of education and therefore lack of access to resources and information keep them from breaking the poverty cycle. Another reason most families are unable to send their children to school is the cost. They have fees for chairs, uniforms, books, desks and everything imaginable so the majority of the population is unable to afford it. Education is extremely important when it comes to trying to help younger generations have a brighter future and everyone should be entitled to it.
I chose these links because they explain the problems with lack of education, the rate of illiterate children, the benefits of having an education and whats being done to help fix the problem.

Shaping an Idea

Stage 1

Collect and Select

Use images and words or phrases to determine an idea, theme

Collect – open mind – subconscious

  1. Select – edit – three grouping – general ideas
  2. Revisit – Collect – add to collections
  3. Verbalize – add words to each collection

Stage 2

Develop the idea / mood

Using colour, texture, patterns, lines and brushes

  1. Use three colours to create a colour scheme
  2. Determine the mood of colours dark /light, bright/subdue etc.
  3. Lines determine sight lines – static dynamic
  4. Textures, patterns, brushes help to create rhythm

Profile

1. Previously I have used Picnk on my Facebook account to edit photos but that quickly became very restricting so for the last couple of years I have used Adobe Photoshop. I have also used Windows Movie Maker, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash. In other years I haven't really done any major projects, just some school assignments here and there.
2. I really like Photoshop and other programs similar to that. I'm excited to learn more about other programs but it would also be great to get a few more tricks to use in Photoshop.

3. Other things that I'm interested in or take up a lot of time in my life are soccer, global service, indie music, photography and skiing.
